EDO asked to ensure quota of deserving students in private schools

RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has directed the district education officers to ensure 10 per cent free education quota for the deserving and talented children in private schools.

Secretary School Education Department Abdul Jabbar Shaheen directed all EDOs edu-cation to ensure the quota in their respective districts.

`Following the order of the secretary education, I have constituted teams today which will visit private schools to ensure the 10 per cent free education for deserving students in class1,` said EDO Education Rawalpindi, Qazi Zahoorul Haq.

He said recently the provincial assembly passed a law, which bound all private institu-tions to give 10 per cent admissions to the deserving but talented students free of cost. The deserving students will be given admissions on merit af ter they pass the school test.

It may be noted that more than four million children are studying in private institutions in Punjab.

Under the 10 per cent quota, talented but resource-less children can get admission to private institutions free of cost.
