Army, Rangers called to ensure peace in Muharram

LAHORE: The Punjab government has engaged army and Rangers for maintaining peace along with police in 22 sensitive districts in the province during first 10 days of Muharram.

According to the home department ofhcials on Tuesday, orders had been issued to disallow inter-district movement and speeches of religious scholars known for their objectionable oratory. There would be a complete ban on exhibition of weapons, hate speech,wall chall(ing and misuse of loudspeakers.

Closed-circuit camera recording would be made of all the main processions and Majalis and speeches of religious leaders.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the Pakistan Ulema Council held here issued a 10-pointcode ofethicsforreligiousleaders of all schools of thought to ensure peace during Muharram.

The council asked scholars belonging to all schools of thought to refrain from hate speech and work for peace during Muharram.
