LAHORE: The Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) on Tuesday sought cooperation from law enforcement agencies, administration and other departments in organising a 10-day event to mark the 546th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak from Nov 20.

Hundreds of Sikh yatrees (pilgrims) are likely to reach Lahore from various countries -mainly India.

`We desire all sorts of security, administrative and logistic arrangements in an excellent and coordinated manner to facilitate the pilgrims in commemorating the birth anniversary in Nankana district, visiting temples of their spiritual leaders in other districts, including Hasan Abdal. We request you to cooperate with us in making the event successful,`ETPBChairman Siddiqul Farooq said while speaking at a high-level meeting held here.

Pakistan Sikh GurdwaraParbandhak Committee Chairman Sardar Sham Singh, Additional Secretary (Shrines) Khalid Ali, Board Secretary Ikramul Haq, senior administrative and police officials from Lahore and Nanl(ana districts and senior officials of sensitive agencies, ministries of interior and foreign affairs, army, Rangers, customs and immigration attended the meeting.

Farooq said the ETPB would ensure foolproof security arrangements.

Later, while talking to the media, he said the government desired friendly working relations with all neighbouring countries.

`We pray that Pakistan and India may have relations as existing between the US and Canada. If the Indian government decides to resolve the Kashmir issue, everything will be fine,` he added.

He further said it was the duty of the government to facilitate Sikhs and other minorities visiting Pakistan for performing religious rituals and other activities.
