ATC declares Altaf proclaimed offender

GUJR ANWA L A: Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Imtiaz Ahmad declared on Tuesday Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain proclaimed offender in anti-state provocative speech case and ordered police to produce him in court on Oct 20 after arresting him.
A citizen, Muhammad Azhar, had got registered a case against Altaf Hussain with Civil Lines PoliceStationinMandiBahauddin.
The police told the court that accused could not be arrested as he was in London. The court issued his arrest warrants and declared himan absconder when he did not appear in court.
CURRENCY: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) claimed to have seized huge quantity of foreign currency, including Saudi Riyals and Euro, in a raid on an illegal currency exchange business at a jeweller`s shop.
FIA Deputy Director Khalid Anees said the raiding team, led by an Assistant Director Muhammad Sarwar, raided Shafi Jeweller in Sarafa Bazaar and seized Rs1.6 million, 803 Saudi Riyals and 4,216 Euro from his shop. He said a case had been registered against the jeweller.
Sarwar further said that a human trafficker, identified asMuhammad Afzal, was also arrested from Hafizabad on charge of sending many people to Greece via Iran and Turkey illegally.
PROTEST: The residents of Farid Town, Satellite Town, Saleem Colony, Fagirpura and Popular Nursery held a protest against low gas pressure in the morning and at night and demanded the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) improve the gas supply.
The protesters said gas pressure was so low in the morning that cooking became impossible.
When contacted, SNGPL General Manager Tayyab Faisal said he had received no complaints from the abovementioned areas and that the consumers should con-tact him directly in case of any complaint.

Two hotel workers, Fiaz Ahmad and Muhammad Umair, were killed while as many injured during last two days in LPG cylinder blasts. District Coordination Officer Amir Jan took notice of the incidents and sealed the LPG filling shops.
A shopkeeper, Ijaz, was arrested from Gakkhar Town while filling the LPG in cylinders.
