PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has announced tehsil status for Darband town of Mansehra district and with this the district would now have five tehsils as Bafa has recently been upgraded to tehsil level.

He also announced a college for the area to be included in the next ADP and a primary school and civil dispensary.

The chief minister made the announcement while addressing a 40-member jirga of nazims of Mansehra district at the GM House here on Thursday.

Senior minister Sikandar Sherpao, PTl regional president Zargul, MPA lbrar Hussain, and district nazim Mansehra were also present on the occasion.

The chief minister said that facilities which a tehsil should have through an inbuilt mechanism would be ensured in the newly-announced tehsil. He also approved construction of five-kilometer Chappar road in the area.

He said that the gap between rich and the poor was created by two different systems of education and this gap would be bridged by uniform education system. He said the present Pakhtunkhwa was totally different from the past where there were no political interference in the public sector institutions and these institutions were sensitized to achieve their goals.

This approach would provide a levelplaying field and the deserving would get their rights, he added. He claimed that his government had brought the public sector education and hospitals at par with the private sectors.-Bureau Report
