CHARSADDA: Police registered an FIR against security personnel in connection with killing of a 50-year-old man when his family members and people of the area blocked the main Shabqadar road here on Thursday.

According to details, Iftikhar Ali of Fazal Rahim Mohallah in Shabqaddar Bazaar was on way to his home near Gate No2 of Frontier Constabulary Training School at Katozai on Wednesday evening when the security personnel on duty allegedly opened fire on him on suspicion that the man might attack them. The incident resulted in death of the citizen.

After the incident, relatives of the deceased went to the Shabqadar police station, but the SHO refused to register an FIR against the FC personnel. On this, the relatives and local people placed the body at Shabqadar bazaar and blocked the main road in protest. The protesters were also joined by MPA Arif Ahmedzai and local political leaders.

Later, DSP Fayyaz Khan, MPA Arif Ahmedzai, councillor Mian Miraj and others held a meeting and reached an understanding to register an FIR against the FC personnel. The FIR was registered in Shabqadar police station on the complaint of Hasnain, son of the deceased.

However, district officer of FC said that it was dark of the night and when the man wrapped in black shawl was signaled to stop, he ignored the signals by FC personnel repeatedly. So they opened fire on him on suspicion.—Correspondent
