SCCI to move court if demands not met

PESHAWAR: The Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) President Zahirullah Shinwari has said that militancy has badly affected business activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and if government fails to give relief to the business community then the chamber will move court.

Speaking at a meeting of business people here on Friday, he said a multiparty conference would also be arranged to apprise the politicians of the problems being confronted by the traders.

Businessman Forum leader Senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour, SCCI senior vice president Mohammad Naeem Butt, vice president Malik Niaz Mohammad, former presidents of the chamber, traders’ representatives from across the province and executive committee members were also present on the occasion.

Mr Shinwari said memorandums of understanding would be signed with foreign missions to ensure availability of business visas. Besides, he also stressed the need for reforms in the tax system and asked for removal of obstacles in the funds refund process.

He said all the district chambers would be taken on board while making decisions for welfare of the community.

He said the MoUs would be signed with ambassadors of China, Afghanistan and Japan to get their support to strengthen bilateral trade.Senator Bilour said the newly elected body of SCCI would properly work on its priorities to materialise commitments and provide relief to the people. —Bureau Report
