MANSEHRA: Lady health workers (LHWs) on Friday held a protest rally and announced to boycott the upcoming vaccination campaigns if the police didn`t arrest the man, who had allegedly attacked one of their colleagues during the last anti-polio drive here.

`A man had attacked one of our colleges, and his family`s women also pelted her with stones during the recent polio drive, but the police are reluctant to arrest him,` Rafasyat Qamar, provincial president of LHWs` association, warned while addressing the protesters outside the press club.

LHWs from across Mansehra, officer-bearers of provincial, Haripur and Abbottabad chapters also participated.

They marched on the KutcheryRoad and assembled outside the press club.

The protesters raised slogans and demanded immediate arrest of the man for threatening LHW Naseem Bibi of dire consequences when she attempted to pursue him to get his children vaccinated.

On the occasion, district president of LHWs` association Nusrat Bibi said it was ironical that the man, who attacked their colleague, had got an FIR registered against her.

President of superiors of LHWs` association Farzana Iqbal said the police should understand the gravity of the situation and take the accused to justice.

An LHW, Fozia Shah said police should quash the FIR registered against their colleague.

Later, deputy commissioner Bilal Shahid Rao met LHWs and promised to meet their demand.
