Employees of former Dir state seek land ownership

TIMERGA RA: Scores of employees of formerly Dir state staged a rally at Sadbar Kallay in Samar Bagh on Sunday and demanded of the government and Lower Dir administration to allot them the land which had been under their use for about eight decades.
The employees, led by Sarbiland Khan, alleged that only those people who bribed officials were being allowed to make construction on their land.
The rally was addressed by Sarbiland, Bacha Hussain and Mubarak Shah. They alleged that a senior clerk in Samar Bagh tehsil administration and another official had taken Rs20,000 and Rs50,000, respectively, as bribe from Azizullah for permission to start construction work on his land.
They said that the employees of formerly Dir state would continue their protest until the officials returned the money to Azizullah.
The speakers said that the land was under their use for the last 80 years which had been awarded to them by former Dir rulers for their services. They said that the courts had also decided the ownership dispute in their favour.
TWO KILLED: A young tailor identifiedas Burhan Khan of Bajaur was electrocuted while working at his shop at Zaib Market here on Sunday.
Local traders said that the tailor was repairing wiring at his shop when he accidentally touched a live wire and got electrocuted. He died on the spot. Also in the day, a woman identified as wife of Mumtaz Khan, a resident of Toor Mang, was killed when unknown people opened fire on their house.
Local police have registered separate cases of the two incidents.
Meanwhile, Aminul Haq, a resident of Chamanabad village in Balambat, has demanded of the police high-ups to arrest the killers of his son, Sajjad Ali, who was killed over a petty issue five months ago. He said that the nominated accused, Nasirullah and Farhatullah, had been threatening him and members of his family.
FOOTPATH PROJECT: Tehsil municipal of ficer Attaullah Khan has said that work on construction of footpath in Timergara city is in progress, adding that the project will cost Rs10 million.
Talking to mediapersons here, he claimed the local administration would make Timergara as a model city by utilising all available resources. He said the number of sanitary staff was increased and proper arrangements had been made to dispose of the garbage on daily basis.
