Inter-school games conclude in Shangla

SHANGLA: Game competitions among the government primary schools of the Butyal circle in Shangla district concluded here on Monday.

The competitions were held in the government primary school (GPS), Butyal, in Bisham tehsil, where assistant sub-divisional education officer Mohammad Ali, teachers from various schools, students, youth, jirga members and notables were present.

In athletics, GPS Butyal won the long jump category, GPS Janrai secured position in high jump, GPS Karora won shot put and discus throw competition, GPS Pyaz Maira got position in 100 meter race and GPS Maira won PT competition.

In husn-i-qirat competition, GPS Dehrai won the first position, while GPS Danakool wonthe Naat competition. GPS Karora achieved first positions in national song and Urdu speech competitions, GPS Koz Paw Chakesar secured first position in national anthem singing contest.

Youth Jirga, a local organisation, awarded the winners with shields for their encour-agement.

The event organiser, Fazal Elahi, told Dawn that holding such events could increase the students` interest in the co-curricular activities.

ASDO Mohammad Ali urged the students to take active part in sports activities.
