LAHORE: The progenies of English sire Galactic Star from the famous Northern Dancer bloodline won both Cup races at the 11th Lahore Winter Meeting held here at the Racecourse on Sunday.Rank outsider bay filly Galactica (Galactic StarSavantee Hill)landed the Arbab Nur Mohammad Khan Cup run over 1200 metres, beating filly Sand Storm by three-fourths of a lengthin a hardfought battleof supremacy with the filly Cousin Cary third among ten fine thoroughbred bloodline runners.
Under a typically excellent and powerful finish from the upcoming riding boy NafeelAamir, the Rashid Latif-trained Galactica held off a strong challenge in a thrilling finish as the bookmakers roared to give a thunderous applause in the fifth race of the day.
A race earlier, favourite baycolt Pakistani Star (Galactic Star-Tiffny) came home storming three lengths clear of colt Breezing Gates in the November Cup run over 1200 metres.
Breezing Gates failed toquicken up in the straight and faded out to concede supremacy to Pakistani Star.
The six-race card was equally shared with three well-backed horses obliging punters.
