KARACHl: Two suspected robbers were shot dead by a citizen in Korangi in the wee hours of Monday, police said.
Zaman Town SHO Zamir Ahmed Khuhawar said that two muggers arrived at an eatery near Chakra Goth, held people there at gunpoint and snatched their cell phones and other valuables.
He said the robbers were collecting phones when one of their victims managed to grab the pistol of one suspect and opened indiscriminate fire. As a result, one mugger died on the spot while his accomplice suffered a serious bullet wound. He was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he died during treatment.
The SHO said one suspect was identified as Zain-ul-Abideen, 39, a resident of Korangi, while the identity of his accomplice could not be known till late in the night.
Suspect Zain had a past criminal record as he was booked in several FIRs registered at the Korangi and Brigade police stations.
