FOR the past few months I have been witnessing that, with the the start of the third week of the month, there is a sudden rise in the number of challans at every signal. I took it as efforts for a regular implementation of the law.
However, a few days ago I myself became a victim of this exercise by the traf fic police.
I was fined for something wrong which I never committed. I took a left turn on one of the main roads of Lahore. All of a sudden I was stopped by the traffic warden. After a heated argument with him, the warden said that it had a certain target to achieve every month to generate revenue. So he asked me to let him do his duty or he would be fired from his position. I was disheartened to know this and I quietly accepted the fine.
I just want to ask government authorities when was the last time they did something tofacilitate the people? Maryam Darakshan Lahore
