GUJRAT: A woman and her supporter/relative were shot dead on Friday by the husband of the woman after she filed a civil suit for divorce.
Deceased Taj Begum had been living with the family of Habibullah who would work at a farm in Dheerkey Khurd village in Sadar police precincts. He hailed from Rajanpur.
Taj had developed differences with her husband Abdul Hameed, also from Rajanpur.
Hameed along with his accomplices arrived at Dheerkey village and shot dead Taj Begum and Habibullah.
Police have registered a case against two nominated suspects under sections 302 and 34 of PPC on the report of Shahidullah, the nephew of deceased man.
BLIND MURDER: Police on Friday claimed to have traced and arrested suspects involved in the blind murder of a cattle mar-ket trader in the precincts of Gulliana police of Kharian tehsil.
A spokesman for Gujrat police said that cattle market trader Tariq Mehmood of Lahore had been found murdered in a deserted area of Bharot village forest on November 14 last.
The case had been lodged against unidentified suspects and Gujrat district police officer Dr Mustanser Atta Bajwa had tasked the Kharian DSP Malik Arfan Safdar and station house officer of Gulliana Raheel Arif to trace and arrest the suspects.
During the course of investigation, police detained two suspects Nageebur Rehman and Sadagat of Saleema village near Lalamusa who confessed to have killed Tariq over some old grudge.
Police said deceased Tariq had been an accused in the murder case of father of Nageeb in 2005.
The Gujrat DPO has commended the efforts of police team for tracing the suspects.
