LEADER of the Opposition in the National Assembly Khusahed Shah recently flouted an idea to reduce parliament`s term to four years from the present five years.
In f act, this has been a long standing PPP demand that was voiced even before the 2013 general elections but rejected by other political parties.
The idea must be given serious thought.
Five years is too long a term. The ruling party often adopts a lackadaisical attitude to important issues and shows no urgency to execute them. They even forget their manifestos and the promises made to the people.
I urge all the political parties in the country to reconsider the idea and reduce the National Assembly term to four years.
