METRO stations and big shopping malls have installed large escalators for public convenience. It is a new phenomenon getting popular in our country.
Some time in an emergency one has to walk all the way up to reach one`s of fice on time. But most of the people either chit chat or stand haphazardly on the escalators, blocking the way up for people behind them.
Some of them even put their arms on both sides of the aisles. In a civilised world, the lef t portion of the system is lef t for those who want to walk up the stairs.
The government-run departments and private shopping malls should educate people or depute some officials for commuters and shoppers to ensure left half of the escalators are clear for those who want to save their time by climbing up the escalators.
