Inter-Korea dialogue

2018-01-15
APROPOS the report `North Korea to attend Olympics in rival South` (Jan10).

There is a picture with the news of the North and South Korean delegations meeting in the demilitarised zone.

Looking at the picture, one cannot dif ferentiate between the North and the South Koreans. Af ter all, they are of the same race, speak the same language and have the same social norms. Above all, they were citizens of one state till 1945. I have a similar observation when I see Indians and Pakistanis abroad.

If the two Koreas cannot unite for whatever reasons, they are coming closerto each other for a while, by participating in sports and other events. If the Koreans can take small steps to create amity between them, then why can`t the Indians and the Pakistanis do the same? Such measures will also enable them to sort out their other dif ferences later.
