Working women seek daycare centres

2018-01-15
ISLAMABAD: Women working in various private and public of fices in the federal capital have demanded of the concerned authorities to ensure the setting up of day care centres at their workplaces. They complained that due to the unavailability of day care centres in offices, working women are facing a lot of problems, particularly those who do not have family to look after their children during working hours.

They said many women cannot afford maids who can take care of their children. If they leave their children home, they are always worried about their safety, they said.

`My performance will be better if my office established a day care centre because when I leave my child at home, my attention is diverted,` said Shamim Asif, who works at a government of fice.

`I requested my office management several times to set up day care centres to facilitate all women working in the of fice but so far, they have not taken any decision in this regard,` said another working woman.

Saba Wasim said many women abandon their careers because there is no one to look after their children. APP
