FBR RAIDS: The Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation (I&I), Inland Revenue of the Federal Board of Revenue, Faisalabad, raided two poultry unitsfor their taxevasion.
Sources of the I&I said M/s Pak Poultry Proteins (unregistered in sales tax) and M/s A.M Super Poultry (registered in sales tax but nill filer) were engaged in manufacturing of poultry meal as well as extractionof oil from fat of chicken. Both are involved in tax fraud by way of making taxable supplies and without charging/paying due tax under the Sales Tax Act, 1990.
They said teams of the directorate visited the premises of these units and checked the sales, purchase, ledgers, vouchers, computers, bank related record and bill books etc. Initial scrutiny of the record suggests sizable tax evasion in both cases. Detailed analysis of the resumed record is underway, they said. The action under section 38 of the Sale Tax Act, 1990 is in line with FBR`s policy of zero tolerance against unregistered and tax-evading businesses and units involved in tax fraud causing huge revenue loss to the national exchequer, they added.
