Provincial govt fails to protect rights of Pakhtuns: QWP

CHARSADDA: Qaumi Watan Party provincial chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao has said that provincial government has failed to protect rights of Pakhtuns.
Addressing a meeting of his party in Tangi tehsil here on Tuesday, he criticised the policies of provincial government.
He said that provincial government was responsible for growing problems being faced by people.
He said that people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were f acing pr oblem s like inflation, backwardness, unemployment and insecurity.
He said that due to poor governance,the province andits people were being deprived of their rights.
He said that owing to lack of solid planning, the province lagged behind other provinces in the race of development.
SikandarSherpao said that poor performance of provincial government was increasing frustration and disappointment among people.
He said that his party would fight the rights and welfare of people of the province at every forum.
DPO: The newly-appointed district police officer, Suleman Zafar, has warned criminals and drug peddlers of strict action.
Talking to a delegation of Muhammadzai Union of journalists, he also warned station house officers of disciplinaryaction in case of negligence.
He directed his subordinates to adopt a people-friendly attitude and devise effective strategies to eliminate crimes.
The DPO said that his first priority was to ensure safety of people and serve them.
He said that the doors of his office were open to complainants and their problems would be resolved on a priority basis.
He said zero-tolerance policy would be adopted against firing in the air and display of weapons.
He said that traffic system would be improved.
He said that district administration and tehsil municipal administration would be consulted for elimination of encroachments and illegalrickshaws.
The DPO said that police should perform their duty with honesty, integrity and conscientiousness. Negligence in duty would not be tolerated under any circumstances, he added.
He said that police department would restore trust of people.
He said that there would be no political interference in affairs of police and all decisions would be made on merit.
He said that police across the district were directed to take action against street crimes, display of weapons and vehicles without number plates.
`The SHOs, who do not take action in this regard, will be dismissed from service, he added.
