Indian envoy summoned to FO over death of three soldiers

ISLAMABAD: A senior Indian diplomat was summoned to the Foreign Office on Tuesday over the killing of three Pakistani soldiers in a ceasefire violation by IndianforcesintheBhimber sector of Azad Kashmir on Monday.
The diplomat was asked toensure that the ceasebre was observed in letter and spirit.
`The director general (SA & Saarc), Dr Mohammad Faisal, summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner, Mr J.P.
Singh, today (14 Feb, 2017) and condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violation by the Indian occupation forces from 1055-1120hrs, on 13 Feb, 2017 on the LoC in Thub area (Bhimber Sector),` a Foreign Office statement said.
Three soldiers identified as Naik Ghulam Rasool, Naik Imran Zafar and Sepoy Imam Bukhsh received fatal injuries because of the Indian firing.
The Indian diplomat was told that deliberate targeting of civilians and soldiers was contrary to human dignity and the international human rights and humanitarianlaws.
`The director general urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 Ceaseñre Understanding; investigate this and other incidents of ceasefire violations; instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceaseñre,in letter and spirit, and maintain peace on the LoC,` the statement added.
