2017-02-15
GHALANAI: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Minister Muzaffar Syed has said the services of all teachers and lecturers in the tribal areas would be regularised soon. He was speaking at a ceremony at the Ghalanai Jirga Hall here on Tuesday.

The minister said tribesmen had rendered countless sacrifices during militancy, and the government would compensate them for their contribution.

The minister said Fata should be brought to the mainstream so the tribesmen could find opportunities of development.

“The whole health and education infrastructure has been devastated in Fata,” he said, and criticised the federal government for ‘mistreating’ the tribesmen.

Mr Syed said that Fata should be given share in NFC Award because tribesmen were equal citizens of the country.

He also demanded a comprehensive financial package for rehabilitation and reconstruction of the damaged infrastructure in the tribal region.

The minister stressed the need for holding local bodies’ elections in the tribal areas and immediate merger of Fata with KP.

He said the provisional government had enhanced salary of all government servants, including teachers. He said teachers would be provided special incentives like time-scale and one-step promotion.

He stressed upon the teachers to perform their duty with honesty. —Correspondent
