T HIS is apropos the news report (Jan 28) wherein three brave officials of the Gilgit-Baltistan wildlife department risked their lives to save a rare snow leopard in the Naltar valley amid heavy snowfall. In doing so they got stranded and there was no food lef t for their survival.
In the meantime, the rescue team sent to retrieve the stranded officials and the snow leopard also f aced serious life threatening challenges owing to six feet of snow and no road to the destination, which was at a distance of nine kilometres.
The snow leopard was rescued safely, while the three wildlife of ficials received frostbite while rescuing the animal.
I would rate their bravery as nothing less than the battlefront valour of soldiers. I would suggest to the government to consider giving gallantry awards to these three of ficials on Pakistan Day.
