Justice Ghaffar takes oath as acting SHC CJ

KARACHI: Justice Muhammad Juanid Ghaffar took the oath as acting chief justice of the Sindh High Court on Friday.

Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori administered the oath at a ceremony held on the premises of Governor House and attended by the SHC judges, federal and provincial law officers, lawyers and others.

Justice Ghaffar will continue as the acting chief justice until the appointment of a regular CJ by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP).

Born on Sept 14, 1963, Justice Ghaffar was appointed as a judge of the SHC on Aug 31, 2013. He is set to retire in September if not elevated to the apex court.

Justice Ghaffar, Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput and Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro are the top three judges on the seniority list of SHC and anyone of them will become the permanent chief justice of the high court. —Staff Reporter
