Member of international `traffickers` gang arrested

TOBA TEK SINGH: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) claimed to have arrested on Friday an alleged member of an international human smugglers gang.
A press release said the suspect, Azeem Shahzad of Jaranwala was illegally receiving passports from people who wanted to go abroad.
It said a raiding FIA team recovered 13 visas of Uzbekistan, 30 of Dubai and 13 work permits of UAE, along with 10 fake visas of Romania, from the suspect.
As per the FIA, he confessed during initial investigation that he and his two accomplices, Kashif Riaz and Naveed Anjum, committed fraud with the people who were desperate to go to Europe and other countries.
ABDUCTION: A married woman was allegedly abducted by a man his accomplices at Chak163-GB on Friday.
Complainant Riaz said in the first information report (FIR) registered under section 365 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) that he was not at home when the suspect, Pervez, and his accomplices abducted his wife Rukhsana.
Gojra Sadar police were conducting raids to recover the woman and arrest her abductors.
DERAILMENT: A bogie of a goods train bound for Shaheenabad, Sargodha, fromKhanewal derailed near Shorkot Cantonment railway station on Friday, suspending the rail traffic.
As per sources, because of the derailment, Karachi-Rawalpindi Pakistan Express train was stopped at Abdul Hakeem railway station, while Millat Express going to Lala Musa from Karachi was also delayed.
The sources said it took the railway staff concerned three hours to clear the track andrestore rail traffic.
UAF: University of Agriculture Faisalabad, in collaboration with the Pakistan Youth Change Advocates (PYCA), has launched a camping to create awareness about healthy food and hazardous effects of trans-fats.
During the campaign, UAF and PYCA will hold awareness sessions, camps and seminars to reach out the people.
UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Sarwar Khan said that trans-fats were consistently contributing to the country`s burden of non-communicable diseases, especially the heart ailments, high blood pressure, obesity, stroke and diabetes.
He called for creating awareness among the people about the healthy food habits and ensure quality food for the public.
Dr Allah Rakha, who is leading the campaign, called for raising the awareness among the society about the healthy food and activities.
