LAHORE: Lahore city district administration has been asked to suspend three officials from service for causing a loss of nearly Rs600 million to the exchequer.
The direction was issued by the Punjab Board of Revenue (BoR) to the Lahore deputy commissioner through a letter here on Friday.
`I am directed to refer to state that the special audit of sub-registrar (Nishtar Town) was conducted which detected evasion of stamp duty to the tune of Rs83.027 million. If the corresponding evasion on account of taxes, including the FBR taxes, is accounted for,the evasion/embezzlement can go well beyond Rs581,191million,`reads the letter issued by the BoR to Lahore DC.
`The competent authority has decided to state that the authority has decided to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the delinquents for which case would be sent to S&GAD. I am further directed to communicate that the officials (registration clerks/registry muharris)includingKhursheedul Zaman, Osama Iftikhar and Muhammad Ahsan (registration clerks) may be suspended immediately,` the letter issued by the BoR`s secretary (taxes) says.
