ISLAMABAD: Five Pakistan players, along with Sri Lankan Yaniskhe Cooray and England`s Mohammad Said, advanced to the quarter-finals as seven matches were decided on the opening day of the second leg of the ATF Pakistan U-14 Super Series Tennis Championship on Monday.

With top-seeded Hamza Bin Rehan having a bye to the last eight, Cooray romped past Syed Mohammad Ahmed dropping just one game while Said, who is of Pakistani origin, was dominating in a 6-1, 6-2 win over Abdullah Khan.

Also at the PTF Complex, Sameed Ahmed overcame Malaysian Yi Shen Wee 6-3, 6-2; Samad Areejo thrashed Ghufran Faiz 6-2, 6-0; Nalain Abbas outclassed Zalan Khan in a double-bagel triumph while Sami Zeb Khan beat Subhan Bin Salik 6-3, 6-1.

In the most intriguing match of the day, Ravan Jawad overcame Ibrahim Khan 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).
