Saanjh to feature Indian, Pakistani maestros

LAHORE:`Zeal for Unity` will be part of the 12th edition of `Saanjh -Amritsar Lahore Peace Festival` hosting performances by maestros fromIndia and Pakistan, saysapressreleaseissuedby Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop.

The release says Saanjh is an initiative by Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop and Indiabased Punarjyot, an offshoot of Spring Dale Educational Society.Scheduled to be held on March 15 in Pul Moran, a heritage site on AmritsarLahore Road, and at the Rafi Peer Cultural Centre on March 16 in Lahore, performances line-up includes: Rizwan-Muazzam, Sain Zahoor Ahmed, Nighat Chaudhary, Pappu Sain and Lakhwinder Wadali.

Kirat Sandhu Cheema, director of Punarjyot, said in a statement: `Saanjh, as thename suggests, is a herald of peace. It was conceptualised to promote interaction between people of either Punjab through music, culture and theatre as we share a common cultural and linguistic heritage.

Adding to this, Saadaan Peerzada, chief operating officer of the Rafi Peer Theatre workshop, said: `The vision behind Saanjh Festival has been to celebrate Punjab, our mother tongue Punjabi, our traditions and our cultural heritage.

Zeal for Unity is a peace initiative by the Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited an Indian media conglomerate.

Saanjh was initiated in 2004 to build bridges for cultural exchanges and to facilitate people-to-people contact.
