THIS is apropos the news item (March 30) wherein Rs25 million was allotted by the Sindh government to observe Zulfilcar Ali Bhutto`s death anniversary. As if it was not enough, we saw a 16-page advertisement supplement on ZAB.
Interestingly, another news didn`t receive much coverage in this part of the world. It was about South African President Jacob Zuma who was accused of using public money to upgrade at his private residence which were not related to his security.
A 2014 report said $16 million in state funds was spent on renovations. This triggered a sharp reaction from the opposition.
South Africa`s top court ruled Zuma had failed to uphold the constitution by ignoring instructions to pay part of the bill for the upgrades. Zuma has apologised and promised to return some of the amount.
Not only this; Zuma also survived impeachment. While thousands of people marched on Johannesburg streets asking Zuma to step down, senior politicians have suggested, and opposition members asked, him to quit.
