PHA cancels musical, entertainment events

SARGODHA: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) of Sargodha has decided to cancel all musical and entertainment programmes scheduled as part of its spring festivities in solidarity with the people of Palestine.
According to sources, the PHA had approved events such as a circus and the well of death at Company Garden, raising concerns over potential gambling activities. However, officials now say that, in solidarity with the Palestinian people andin protest against Israeli aggression, all such programmes have been cancelled.
PHA sources confirmed that the musical night and other spring festival events would no longer take place. Instead, the event will now be limited to a flora restival, which will begin on April 16 and continue for four days at Company Garden.
DRIVE: The Sargodha Municipal Corporation is preparing to launch a full-scale drive to remove animals from city areas.
Chief Officer Umar Farooq said the municipality had completed arrangements for theoperation. He said the initiative aims to beautify the city and reduce public inconvenience. A dozen teams are being formed for this purpose, each to be supervised by officers.
A sizeable police presence will support the operation, which is set to begin in the next two to three days across all affected areas.
ATTACK: Armed men in a luxury vehicle opened fire on a 26-year-old man near the Tarigabad Hockey Ground and injured him.
According to sources, Intikhab Fida Hussain, of Chakwal, was targeted by gun-men and was shifted to hospital in a critical condition.
The attackers fled the scene and police are investigating the incident.
Meanwhile, on SargodhaBhalwal Road, a speeding vehicle collided with a motorcycle near Sher Muhammadwala Road.
The injured included 45-yearold Aziz Bibi of Kot Khuda Bakhsh, 12-year-old Agib Maqbool, 20-year-old Zahid Sikandar of Lak Mor and his mother 60-year-old Zahida Bibi.
All were shifted to hospital.
ELECTROCUTED: A 25-year-old man was electro-cuted to death while allegedly attempting to steal a motor from a toka machine near Chak 15, North Lak Mor, on Bhalwal Road.
The deceased was identified as Muhammad Khalid, of the same area. His body was shifted to hospital and police are investigating the incident.
ACCIDENT: A gravel-laden truck skidded off the road due to brake failure and crashed into another vehicle in the Midh Ranjha area, injuring the driver.
The injured, 23-year-old Yasir Abbas, was shifted to Kot Momin THQ Hospital.
