Rs100m walking track to be built along Clifton beach

KARACHI: Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah laid the foundation stone of the Peoples Marine Walk project in Clifton on Sunday.

The 1.5-kilometre-long track will begin from Dolmen Mall and end at Dua Chowrangi along the Clifton beach.

The track along the 100foot wide road will have a walking path, washrooms, play land, restaurants, parking space and water sports facilities. Flower arrangement display and various events and entertainment facilities will be made available at the spot.

Speaking at the ceremony, the local government minister said the Pakistan Peoples Partyled Sindh government was taking all possible steps to provide basic facilities to citizens by implementing the vision of party chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari.

Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, Chief Minister`s Law AdviserBarristerMurtaza Wahab, director general of Karachi Development Authority Syed Mohammad Ali Shah and other officials were also present.

Briefing the local government minister, the KDA chief said that the first phase of the project would be completed in a short span of one year with the cooperation of the provincial government and the KDA.

He said that Rs100 million would be spent on completion of the project.

He further said that experts and experienced officers of the KDA would complete the project in accordance with international standards.

The KDA was trying to provide recreational and healthy facilities to the residents of Karachi, including providing basic amenities, he added.

Meanwhile, Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the project was a gift to the people of Karachi by PPP leadership.
