LAHORE: Three hardened criminals were killed, and eight others arrested while five robbers surrendered during an operation in the Katcha area of south Punjab.
A police spokesperson stated on Sunday that a huge cache of illegal weapons was recovered from the killed criminals.
The operation, which was launched 36 days ago, has cleared a majority of the area of dacoits in Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur.
He said a majority area has been cleared of dacoits by the police forces during the operation which was launched some 36 back the Katcha localities of Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur.
The police have established a school and a civil dispensary in the Katana area of Chak Chiragh Shah in Rahim Yar Khan.
A press release from the regional police office said that the police opened a school for children and a civil dispensary for the local population after clearing the areas from criminals.
Both facilities are the police`s self-help initiatives to serve the area`s people. Police officials would serve as teachers in the school, whose students, admittedly a large number of the residents of Katcha areas, have been provided books and other necessities free of charge, while in the civil dispensary, the police`s trained staff has been assigned their additional duty to serve the people.
Medicines and emergency services are being provided free of charge by the police.
