CTD nabs five members of banned outfits

LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department Punjab claims to have arrested five suspects belonging to various defunct organisations.
They were identified as Salman, Malik Israr Ahmad of Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, Sheer Zaman and Sher Mohammad of militant Islamic State group (Daish) and Abdul Khaliq, an active member of criminals from the Kacha area of south Punjab.
A spokesperson for the CTD said here on Sunday that the department conducted 25 extensive intelligence-based operations (IBOs) across Punjab to avert any untoward incident.
During operations, the teams questioned 25 suspects and arrested five of them, recovering 520gm explosives, one IED bomb, two rocket shells, seven booster shell RPG, four detonators, six ft safety fuse, two prima card, one pistol and six bullets besides pamphlets, stickers etc. The CTD lodged cases against them under anti-terrorism and other heinous charges in Sahiwal and Gujranwala regions.
