`Hired killers` arrested in Shangla

SHANGLA: The Shangla police have arrested agroup of target killers who attempted to kill a person traveling to Khwazakhela, Swat, in a cab after appearing a court case in Alpuri. All the passengers in the cab had remained unhurt due to driver`s efforts.
Addressing a news conference in Alpuri the other day, district police officer SajjadAhmad Sahibzada said that Alpuri police station was informed by eyewitnesses about the firing incident and a police party reached the Nagha Band area, where the incidenttook place.
The DPO said after half-an-hour search they arrested three of four target killers from the mountainous Kotakay area.
Mr Sahibzada said the complainant who was target of the hired killers, Nasib Nawab, a resident of Dehrai, Alpuri, told police thathe was returning to Khwazakhela, Swat, in a cab from Alpuri after appearing in a case when assailants in a jeep opened fire on them in Nagha Band area but they managed to escape unhurt.
Shangla DPO said the accused then fled the scene and left the jeep on the road, however police responded and began combing the mountains and after half an hour they arrested three ofthefour suspects and also recovered weapons from them.
