Man, son die after falling into uncovered manhole

BAHAWALPUR: Four people, including two young people, were killed in separate incidents in Ahmedpur East and Lodhran on Wednesday.
In Rashid Town, Basti Bhattian, 10km from Ahmedpur East, a man and his son died after falling into an uncovered manhole outside their house. According to Rescue 1122, the manhole was loosely covered with wooden sticks. Asif Jan, 30, fell accidentally while walking over it. His father, Qasim, 60, tried to save him and also fell in.
Rescuers retrieved the bodies. The family refused to shift the bodies to a hospital, so they werehanded over after legal formalities.
In a separate incident in Kotla Dilbar, tehsil Kahror Pakka of Lodhran district, oil tanker cleaner Muhammad Imtiaz, 38, died of suffocation while cleaning the inside of a tanker. Rescue 1122 said Imtiaz fell unconscious due to toxic fumes. The body was handed over to his family in the presence of police.
In another incident, 22-year-old Muzammil Hussain was riding a motorcycle when it collided with a wagon near Sukhera Chowk, Gailwala. The wagon driver fled the scene, and police have launched a search for him.
RAPIST HELD: A fake faith healer was arrestedby Burewala police for sexually assaulting a 26-year-old visually impaired woman in village 445-EB in Vehari district.
According to police, the victim`s mother had taken her to Shah for prayers.
Shah sent the mother to fetch needles and allegedly raped the woman during her absence.
PSP: Pakistan Seraiki Party (PSP) activists, at a meeting in Bahawalpur, condemned Indian missile attacks in which 14 people, including eight women and three children, were reportedly martyred. The party demanded compensation for victims` families and called on India to release the river water owed to Pakistan.--
