KOHAT: The district administration organised a special ceremony in recognition of cultural and artistic services of artists Liaqat Ali Khan and Naeem Iqbal Kohation Wednesday.

Deputy commissioner Abdul Akram, who was the chief guest at the ceremony, awarded honorary shields and certificates to both the artists.

On the occasion, the chief guest said that Liaqat Ali was not only famous locally but also internationally. `He has created a place in the hearts of people through his artistic services and has been playing a key role in keeping Kohat`s cultural heritage alive.

The deputy commissioner said Liaqat Ali`s efforts were a beacon oflight for young students to follow.

He said that district administration was taking all possible steps to promote local art and culture and the encouragement of such talented individuals would continue in the future also.

The artists, while expressing their views on this occasion, thanked the district administration and expressed their determination to continue serving art and culture in the future as well.

They said the event was a clear proof that art and literature were still alive in a historic city like Kohat, and the people who appreciated it were providing a strong foundation for the coming generations. Correspondent
