Shopkeepers fined for violating price list

TIMERGARA: District food controller Shahabuddin accompanied by police raided different markets in Timergara, Talash, Munda, Khall and Balambat and checked the prices of daily use commodities and cleanliness at bakeries and hotels.

According to officials, a total of 44 shopkeepers were fined on the spot for violating the official price list while samples of 18 foodstuffs were sent to laboratory for quality test.

The food controller asked the shopkeepers to follow the official price list, maintain quality of foodstuff and observe cleanliness.

Meanwhile, Adenzai police arrested a suspect who used to deprive people of their valuables after making friendship on mobile phone.

Briefing mediapersons, DSP Mohammad Shah said they had traced the suspect through call data recorder (CDR).

The DSP said the suspect Imran Khan, a resident of Katlang in Mardan, had taken away six-tola gold ornaments from Said Ali Shah of Khadagazai in Lower Dir.

They said Imran had developed friendship with Mr Shah a month ago and would frequently visit his house. He last time told his friend that he needed 6-tola gold ornaments to bring back his wife who had left the house and then disappeared.

The Chakdara police traced the suspect through his mobile phone CDR and arrested him on Wednesday.

Police also recovered the gold ornaments from a jeweller in Peshawar.

PROTEST: Residents of Timergara staged a protest rally in front of the press club here and demanded of the government to ensure safe recovery of a missing driver, Hazratullah, a resident of Timergara.

They said that Hazratullah was kidnapped by unknown persons on June 2. Speaking on the occasion, councillor Shahab Utmani and Samiullah claimed the kidnappers had taken the driver to Bajaur Agency.

EXAMINATIONS: The boards of intermediate and secondary education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been tasked to conduct grade-VI assessment examinations from 2018.

Malakand BISE controller of examinations Prof Jamil Ahmad told mediapersons at Chakdara that the board would conduct grade 5th examinations in February next and grade 8th examinations from 2019.

He said that the refusing private schools would not be issuedrollnumbersin secondary school certificate examinations.Correspondent
