LAKKI MARWAT: The local administration has decided to deploy additional police and Elite Force personnel in Naurang town to maintain peace during the last 10 days of Ramazan.
The decision was taken in a meeting held at the Police Lines here on Wednesday.
District police officer Khalid Hamdani chaired the meeting which was attended by DSP Naurang Murad Ali Khan, SHO Ghulam Mohammad and other officials.
The meeting discussed mechanism to implement the security plan with special focus on stopping infiltration of miscreants to the town from adjacent districts and tribal areas. It decided to put police on high alert in the town and adjacent rural localities.
An official informed the participants that police launched successful operation during Ramazan in border villages of Naurang town and arrested nine proclaimed offenders and 42 suspects.
He said that during theoperation in Takhtikhel, Walai, Sagai and Bargai villages bordering the Frontier Region the law enforcers seized five AK-47 rifles, five shotguns, 15 pistols and toy bombs from anti-social elements and registered cases against them.
Mr Hamdani asl(ed the police to accelerate action against outlaws and set up checkpoints on roads leading to Naurang town from Karak and Bannu districts and frontier regions of Lakki and Bannu.
ARRESTED: Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a cattle thief during a raid in Abakhel village.
An official said that two cattle thieves had taken away 28 goats from the fields near Abakhel village a couple of days ago. He quoted cattle owner Falak Naz as stating in the FIR that he had left goats in the fields for grazing, but they did not return home as usual in the evening.
The police later arrested one of the alleged cattle thief identified as Samiullah, a resident of Abakhel, and recovered the cattle.
