Use of generators Gas supply to 110 houses cut off

GUJRAT: At least 110 gas connections of the domestic consumers were severed for illegally operating power generators on these connections in Gujrat by the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL)in this regard.

The drive to remove gas meters after severing of connection was launched almost a week ago as the use of gas for power generators on domestic or commercial connections is prohibited.

Surveillance teams visit the different areas where complaints of low gas pressure or other such issues are received.

An official of the SNGPL said that such a disconnection could easily be restored within a day or two after the consumer submit an affidavit of not repeating the practice and in case of committing a violation for a second time the same con-nection could not be restored in three months.

He said that there was no provision for imposing a fine on such a violation as a large number of consumers had been committing violations nowadays.

Locals urged the authorities to continue the drive against such practices to minimize the energy crisis in the country.

LAND RETRIEVED: The Jhelum district administration retrieved six kanals and seven marlas belonging to the irrigation department on Monday.

A special team under the supervision of Jhelum Assistant Commissioner Maria Javed with heavy machinery launched the operation along the river belt and demolished the under-construction structures and boundary walls.

Later, the relinquished land`s possession was handedovertothe department.
