Punjab govt allows summer camps for students

RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has allowed establishment of summer camps in public and private schools for curricular and co-curricular/ sports activities during summer vacations from June 20.

According to the notification, the summer camps will be allowed for all classes. The summer camps can be held from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

The school administration will ensure that all activities/ classes are conducted in classrooms/indoor. Participation in the summer camps will not be mandatory for students. The consent of parents will be required for registration of student(s) for participation in summer camps.

The school administration will ensure availability of basic essential amenities For example cleanliness, clean and cold drinking water, fans, sitting arrangements, electricity back-up in case of load shedding etc.

The school administration shall ensure that participants of summer camps bring healthy and fresh eatables.

The school administrationshall ensure availability of first aid box with sufficient necessary supplies.

All participants of summer camps shall be exempted from uniforms. However, the school administration shall ensure wearing of light color, loosefitting clothing and hats/caps for students to protect them from sunshine.

The heads of public schools are also encouraged to establish coaching camps for hockey, football, volleyball, or any other sports, as deemed appropriate on above lines by deploying Physical Education Teachers (PETs) or any other interested teacher on voluntary basis, or by using staff from the District Sports Office.

The Chief Executive Officers of district Education Authority and Heads of private institutions are directed to ensure compliance of above cited terms and conditions for establishment of summer camps in true letter and spirit.

All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association President Kashif Adeeb Javadani and North Punjab President Ibrar Ahmad Khan and Member District Registration Authority Rawalpindi Ibrar Ahmad Khan welcomed the decision.
