Good consumers

2015-07-15
WE have been without power for more than two days. On July 10 at 10am there was a flicker and electricity disappeared. We thought it was the `normal` breakdown so common these days.

After six hours I decided to register a complaint and learnt to my horror that the connections are removed from the pole because our landlord had not paid his bill of about Rs187,000. Our bills are paid but power cannot be restored to us owing to the most irrational Operation Burg. K-Electric has failed to tackle the meters individually.

There is no disconnection when the bill is not paid for two or more months or exceeds a certain amount.

It would have been much more ef fective if K-Electric could generate the list of `good` consumers and of fer them rebate or some other incentive.

May I request the K-Electric CEO to please order reconnection of our meter immediately? How long are we expected to suffer if our landlord is unable to pay his bill? AquilaIslam Karachi (2) IT is not unusual these days to witness the whole of Karachi city plunge into darkness.

This has been happening every second day for the last week. It is a total failure of the electric supply company. It has become extremely difficult for Karachiites to live through the holy month of Ramazan as it gets dark, especially at the time of Sehri and Iftar.
