Marriage halls` owners told govt cannot risk opening venues

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has said that the provincial government was fully aware of the issues being confronted by marriage halls` owners as all sectors have been badly affected by the pandemic outbreak, but there would be no compromise on humanlives.

In a meeting with marriage halls` owners at the Commissioner House in the presence of Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Shallwani and the Sindh information secretary here on Tuesday, he said the Sindh government was bound to abide by the policy formulated by the fed-eral government regarding coronavirus control.

According to a news release, the marriage hall owners expressed their concern in the meeting regarding the closure of their business.

The minister said special relief measures were being taken for the business community on the directives of the Sindh chief minister, but human lives could not be put at risk.

He said the provincial government was in consultation with all stakeholders and unless there were clear instructions from the Supreme Court or the federal government, matters needed to be handled with patience.-APP
