GUJRAT: Scores of the workers of Jamaat-i-Islami staged a protest demonstration in city`s GTS Chowk against inflated bills of electricity and imposition of taxes.

The protesters were led by Punjab JI emir Dr Tariq Saleem, acting Gujrat emir Khalid Saqib, Raja SajidSharif and others. The sit-in was staged in response to the countrywide protest call by JI emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman to mobilize workers for July 26 rally in Islamabad.

Speaking to participants, Punjab JI chief Tariq Saleem said that the rulers were burdening the masses in the name of taxes and utility bills without provision of basic amenities.
