`Continuity of policies must for progress`

2017-08-15
LAHORE: Former foreign minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri says continuity of policies is needed for development in the country.

`It has been observed in all countries where large-scale developments were made that continuity of policies was ensured. Even in Pakistan whatever achievements were made, they happened due to consistent national policies, irrespective of military or civilian governments,` he said at an event organised by the TECH Society Club in connection with the Independence Day on Monday.

Mr Kasuri said that at one point, Pakistan was developing at a speed more than that of Korea but it could not be sustained due to policy changes at the government level.

He said India knew that it could not win a traditional war against Pakistan.

`That`s why it will never dare wage a war against us which can destroy both the countries. The best advantage of Pakistanis is always thinking optimistically even in worst situations. It is also a reason for our better happiness index as compared to India. If Modi adopts the same biased attitude in the future too, India will go down,` Kasuri added.

Former state minister Qayyum Nizami, TECH Society President Manzoor A. Shaikh, Secretary General Dr Muhammad Sadiq and Jameel Gishkori also spoke. Staff Reporter
