Independence Day marked in Balochistan

QUETTA: Pakistan`s 76th Independence Day was observed with patriotic zeal and fervour as commemorative ceremonies took place in Quetta and various towns and cities across Balochistan on Monday.

The day began with a 21-gun salute in Quetta, followed by special prayers offered in mosques for the solidarity, prosperity, and longevity of Pakistan.

Thousands of people, especially the youth, took to the streets waving national flags while riding their vehicles and motorbikes till late at night.

Government buildings, including the Governor`s and Chief Minister`s houses, Civil Secretariat, Quetta Metropolitan Corporation, Balochistan Assembly, Balochistan High Court, banks, and other edifices, were adorned with exquisite lights. Families could be seen gathering to witness the decoratedbuildings.

Flag hoisting ceremonies took place in all 35 districts of Balochistan, while the main event for flag hoisting was held on the lawns of the Provincial Assembly of Balochistan and the premises of the Balochistan High Court.
