Awards, fashion show highlight Independence Day festivities

KARACHI: A commemoration of Pakistan`s 76th Independence Day was held at a hotel on Sunday evening, featuring a grand celebration including awards distribution, bridal fashions` runway presentation and traditional, cultural dance performances.
M. Umar Shah of the Diplomatic Business Club welcomed Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori and Karachi Commissioner M.
Iqbal Memon, along with other distinguished guests.
The itinerary for the evening included a ramp walk by foreign diplomats in the Pakistan national dress, an awards` distribution ceremony followed immediately by a ramp presentation of bridal fashions by celebrated fashion designer Zubair Shah, and finally a segment featuring traditional, cultural dance performances.
The event presented a blend of tradition and progress by fos-tering connections and driving business synergies.
Speakers called upon the business community and the public to unite and collaborate for the advancement of the nation`s economy.
The evening`s festivities commenced with a fashion parade highlighting foreign diplomats in classic Pakistani attire by the clothing brand Diner`s, accompanied by their female counterparts attired in the costumes of their respective countries.
These included the Consuls General from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Korea, and Sri Lanka, alongside Honorary Consuls General from Morocco, Yemen, Philippines, Suriname and Ethiopia.
Next, the Best Achievement Awards honoured exceptional entrepreneurs who have excelled across various categories, and were recognised for their remarkable contributions to the society, including fashion.
Fashion designer Zubair Shah presented a highly stylised presentation of fabulous bridaland grooms-wear in classic fes-tive colours and silhouettes.
Renowned male models Aasif Rehmaan, Rao Zeeshan, Adil Kahout, Umair Farooq, Muhammad Kabir and Syed Asif, along with their female counterparts Maham Akram, Bebee, Ayesha Khan, Ruby Butt, Ramsha Khan and Rabea Shoeb walked the runway in Zubair Shah`s grooms` wear and bridal trousseau collection to the tune of Shakar Wanda Ve by singer Asrar from the film Ho Mann Jahan, and drew a rave round of applause from the distinguished guests and audience.
The grooming of the male models was by Ilyas Salon and Depilex Institute & Salon managed the hair and make-up of the female models. The show direction and choreography was by award-winning fashion coordinator and style guru Umer Mushtaq.
An engaging and enriching Philippines cultural dance show and another by the Indonesian cultural dance troupe concluded the evening`s proceedings.
