Rs10m robbery at expat`s house

GUJRAT: Robbers looted cash and gold ornaments worth Rs10 million from an expatriate`s house at Dalia village on Tuesday.

Reports said three armed men barged into the house of Tauseef Mehdi and held up the family. They looted 61-tola gold ornaments, 10,000 euros, Rs200,000 and other valuables from thehouse andescaped.

Police on being informed reached the spot and collected forensic evidence.

They registered a case against the robbers.

KILLED: A man was killed by the firing of a close kin over a dispute at Bijli Ghar on Wednesday.

Reports said Siraj Muhammad, who belonged to Mardan and was residing at Sara-i-Alamgir, was shot dead by his kin Niaz Muhammad over a dispute.

The suspect fled and police shif ted the dead body to thecivil hospital for autopsy.

Police started investigation after registration of a case against the suspect.

MURDER CASE: Police claim to have solved the murder case as husband turned out to be the killer of his wife at Hariyewala village.

Kashif Hussain, a spokesman for the Gujrat police, told Dawn that Maryam Bibi was killed through asphyxiation at her house on Aug 25 last and police registered a case against her husband Ifzal Iftikhar on the report of Maqsood Ahmed.

Police said they collected the forensic evidence from the crime scene and started investigation. District Police Officer Syed Ghazanfar Shah constituted a team led by the Lalamusa DSP to arrest the suspects involved in the case.

The spokesman said police detained Iftikhar for investigation and he later confessed to killing his wife.
