New Mansehra SSP seeks people`s cooperation

MANSEHRA, Oct 14: The new senior superintendent of police, Mansehra, Khurram Rasheed, on Monday asked the local people to cooperate with him in eliminating crime and criminals from the district.
`I am here to ensure the government`s writ and now the people should cooperate with us in doing so. Police will crack down on outlaws, especially those involved in narcotics and gambling,` he told reporters here.
The SSP said he would follow the footsteps of his predecessor, Abdul Ghafoor Afridi, to check crime and protect youths from drug addiction.
`Journalists are ears and eyes of the society and therefore, they should guide us, police, on how to check crime,` he said.
Mr Rasheed said he would also take strict action against the black sheep in police.
`I warn policemen to mend their ways and stopsupporting or patronising outlaws otherwise they will be taken to task,` he said.
The SSP said he would do his level best to serve the people honestly and with dedication and ensure that visitors were provided with the best possible services at local police stations.
BAKERS WARNED: The district administration on Monday warned bakers to provide hygienic and quality products to consumers on Eid to prevent crackdown.
The warning was issued by Assistant Commissioner Dr Qasim Ali Khan during a visit to markets on Abbottabad Road, Shinklari Road and Kashmir Road, where he checked quality of products sold at bakeries and butcher shops.
He asked bakers to strictly comply with the hygienic standard set by the administration.
The assistant commissioner said workers should be properly dressed while working at bakeries to ensurethat products prepared were hygienic.
`We will take strict action against those violating our hygienic standard,` he said.
Dr Qasim warned butchers to strictly follow the code issued by the livestock department to prevent the possible outbreak of Congo virus in the district.
He said he had made a comprehensive plan to dispose of the entrails of sacrificed animals.
The assistant commissioner said the entire sanitation staff of the municipal committee would be duty on Eid days.
He said the city would be kept clean and that entrails and garbage would be disposed of.
Dr Qasim urged the people to cooperate with the municipal committee`s staff in disposing of the entrails to keep the city clean.
He said people should put entrails at dumping sites in the city to prevent spread of diseases.
