BAHAWALPUR: Five people, including an Elite Force personnel Zubair (24), were injured on Mond ay in a firing incident in broad daylight inside busy Farid Gate where panic gripped the area, forcing the shopkeepers and passers-by to run helter-skelter.

According to Kotwali police and Rescue 1122, there was firing between two rival groups over some dispute at a butcher`s shop.

The suspects traded fire, creating panic and fear in the entire area. The injured were rushed to emergency ward of Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) while police reached the scene. Further investigation is under way.
