BAHAWALPUR: Five people, including an Elite Force personnel Zubair (24), were injured on Monday in a firing incident in broad daylight inside busy Farid Gate where panic gripped the area, forcing the shopkeepers and passers-by to run helterskelter.

According to Kotwali police and Rescue 1122, there was firing between two rival groups over some dispute at a butcher`s shop.

The suspects traded fire, creating panic and fear in the entire area.

The injured were rushed to emergency ward of Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) while police reached the scene. Further investigation is under way.TWO DIE: Two men died in separate incidents in Hasilpur and Khairpur Tamewali, about 45 kms from here, on Monday.

In the first incident, Allah Ditta drowned in the Sutlej when he attempted to take bath in the river and accordingto1122rescuers his body was retrieved and handed over to his family living near the river banks in Hasilpur.

In the second incident, private telephone company`s lineman Belal Ahmed (28) working on an electricity pole without safety gear was electrocuted. The deceased`s family accused the telephone company of his death and demonstrated against the management. -Correspondent
